Calgon Carbon Finance Chief Leaving For Undisclosed Company

DOW JONES NEWSWIRES     7/15/2010 9:33:00 AM    ReadCount:654

Calgon Carbon Corp. (CCC) Chief Financial Officer Leroy Ball is leaving the air- and water-purification company to join another firm.
His destination wasn't disclosed by Calgon, and company officials weren't immediately available to comment.
It tapped Stevan Schott to replace Ball, effective immediately. Until Sept. 1, when he switches companies, Ball will focus on transferring responsibility for Calgon's Japan arm to another executive.
Schott joined Calgon in 2007 as an executive director of finance. He was promoted to vice president of finance a year later and given responsibility for the various accounting and financial functions for the company's U.S. and Asian operations. Before joining Calgon, he spent eight years at Duquesne Light Holdings Inc. in various financial positions and worked for 15 years at Deloitte & Touche LLP.
Calgon has found strength recently, tapping into demand for activated carbon for potable-water treatment in Asia and for mercury removal at coal-fired power plants, though the global economic slowdown had weighed on traditional markets such as municipalities cleaning their drinking water.
Shares closed Tuesday at $13.67 and were inactive premarket.
